Drug addiction has many aspects to it
It is known that compulsion is the main reason why a person becomes addicted to drugs. The addictive emotions erupt and the drug addict does not have a control over it if he or she does not wish to.
Addiction is different in the cases of different people. It may be that the individual has a belief that they require drugs to live their life normally and help them function well. They are of the mindset that reduced intake of the drug will affect their mental state and physical too. Ironically they may not see that the drug taking is ruining their body and mind.
The addiction may take the form of alcohol, cocaine, heroin or any number of other drugs. Addicts may ruin their body and lose their state of mind. They may experience memory loss, hallucinations, illusions, dizziness and violent mood swings. The immediate family of a drug addict and society bear the brunt of the consequences. Family life is disrupted and careers threatened or lost.
