Each person is a leading expert in a specialist field of alcohol, drug, or substance abuse and rehab treatment.
The Causeway Retreat’s Chief Executive Officer is Brendan Quinn RMN BSc (Hons). Brendan is also the Director of 1-1 Detox and was the first person in Europe to offer tailor-made alcohol and drug-addiction treatment in the client’s own home. He is counted amongst the country’s foremost specialists in mental health and addiction treatment.

Dr Grant holds memberships with The Royal College of Psychiatrists, British Medical Association and Medical Protection Society. She leads in women's mental health including perinatal psychiatry and, in addition has gained specialist training and expertise in many avenues of psychiatry.

Gary Bell trained in General Adult Psychiatry in London (Charing Cross, the Middlesex and University College Hospitals) and has held Consultant posts at St Bartholomew's Hospital in the City of London, the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and since 1997 the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, Northwood, Middlesex, the largest Cancer Centre in the South of England.

Vince Gradillas qualified at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals, London, in 1996. He trained in General Adult and Forensic Psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital, London, between 1998 and 2006. He has held Consultant posts at Broadmoor Hospital and has been at Three Bridges, West London Mental Health Trust, since 2006. He holds a Master of Philosophy degree in Criminology from the University of Cambridge.

Mark has been with the company in his capacity as General Manager of Osea Island since the beginning of March 2009 and has a great deal of experience in the exclusive accommodation sector. Mark has previously worked for a number of extremely distinguished establishments including, amongst others, The Savoy Hotel, Claridges and Blakes in London and The Sheraton Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.

Joseph is originally from America and came to the U.K. around four years ago. He has been working for The Causeway Retreat since early May 2009 and constitutes one of the island’s team of qualified and highly experienced therapists. He graduated from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio with a BSc in Mental Health and Human Services, followed by a Masters in Social Work (MSW) at The State University of New York, Stonybrook.

Vicky started at The Causeway Retreat in mid-June 2009 on a three month placement to gain experience in the field of Health Psychology. She has a first-class undergraduate Psychology degree and a postgraduate masters in Health Psychology. In addition to qualifications, Vicky hopes to attain her Professional Doctorate in Health Psychology whilst working at the Causeway, which will ultimately allow her to charter as a Health Psychologist. A health psychologist's role is to intervene at the individual level to treat illnesses (such as addictions), to slow down and prevent disease progression. This is achieved through studying the social, cognitive, behavioural and emotional factors which affect addictions and other maladaptive health behaviours..

As a qualified psychiatric nurse, Mike has worked predominantly in the substance misuse field for the past 25 years. During this time he has held a variety of positions ranging from clinical to management. Having retired from the NHS his aim was always to return to clinical work, which his current position here at The Causeway allows. Mike holds a diploma in alcohol counselling and consultation as well as a diploma in community mental health nursing.

Debbie joined the team here at The Causeway Retreat on a temporary basis in September 2008 but we were so impressed with her that she became a permanent member of staff in February 2009. She enjoys working with colleagues as part of a team ensuring that the clients stay is both enjoyable and beneficial. As a support worker some of her duties include welcoming clients to the Island and helping them settle in and become familiar with their surroundings as well as providing any necessary help and support required for the duration of the clients stay with us on the Island.

Laura has been part of the catering team at The Causeway Retreat since February 2008. Her previous professional experiences include working as a personal chef to private individuals, delivering large scale and high class catering at events such as weddings and directors’ lunches, preparing meals in private holiday chalets and even cooking on steam trains.

Lesley Ann Pitt is the Head Housekeeper and direct line manager for a group of seven other Domestic Staff members. As a team, their role is to promote The Causeway Retreat's unique ambience by ensuring that impeccable cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained at all times. Your accommodation and laundry are therefore cleaned for you each and every day, whilst all communal and public areas are maintained on a constant basis.

Andy joined The Causeway Retreat community taking on the position of Chef in July 2007 with over 20 years of culinary experience. He takes great pleasure in being able to use the islands natural and cultivated produce in the creation of dishes.

Marlon works at The Causeway Retreat as an organic food producer and a nature expert. He holds a National Diploma in Countryside Management obtained at Caple Manor College in Enfield, Middlesex and he is 31 years old.
