Brendan Quinn RMN BSc (Hons)

The Causeway Retreat’s Chief Executive Officer is Brendan Quinn RMN BSc (Hons). Brendan is also the Director of 1-1 Detox and was the first person in Europe to offer tailor-made alcohol and drug-addiction treatment in the client’s own home. He is counted amongst the country’s foremost specialists in mental health and addiction treatment.

As a graduate of the Thames Valley University, with an honours degree in Substance Abuse Studies, he has previously worked as a Senior Staff Nurse in the addiction unit of the Florence Nightingale Hospital and as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the drug treatment centre of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Brendan set up 1-1 Detox in 1998 and The Causeway Retreat in March 2003. He has since been recognised for his ground-breaking work, particularly in the field of addiction, by way of numerous features and quotations in a variety of contemporary publications. Such publications include Grazia, Director, Business Edge and New Currents, where he was describing as “[having] a phenomenal track record”. He also appears in Tatler Magazine’s ‘Britain’s 250 best private doctors’ in his role as an addictions expert.

Through both his home and residential treatment organizations, Brendan sees his ultimate goal as being “to de-institutionalize and de-stigmatize people's experiences of being treated in mental health facilities.”
